Red Cedar Mulch

Mulch is universally defined as an aesthetic ground covering used to retain soil moisture, to control weeds and soil erosion, and to act as soil insulation.

When selecting mulch, it is important to know exactly what characteristics our customers are looking for. Our mulch consists of solely organic materials. One of the most important characteristics of mulch selection is its ability for gas exchange between the underlying soil and air. Good gas exchange is directly related to water penetration capability of the mulch. As well as water penetration, it is important for a mulch to conserve soil moisture by reducing water evaporation by the sun, wind, and low atmospheric humidity.

High quality mulches should have most, if not all, of the following characteristics:

weed growth prevention
soil erosion prevention
long-term effectiveness
colour retention over multiple seasons
uniform texture, generally fibrous particles
little or no dispersal by wind and moving water
adequate ageing to reduce nitrogen immobilization
keeps soil moist, therefore making nutrients more available to plant

A rich, deep, dark, "mocha" colour, all cedar with pleasant cedar fragrance. Clean light delicate mulch for fine landscaping which can be used even in steep grade applications.

	This material mats well and is a superior product for use in sloped areas.
	The colour greys by the second year. It decomposes less rapidly remaining effective for 5 years.
	Reapplication as required for visual effect or 5 years.
	Has a near neutral pH.
	Weed barrier ability is excellent because of it’s matting effect.
	Reduces evaporation for less watering maintenance.
