Genuine Antique Brick known as Reclaimed Brick
Red and Buff reclaimed brick were produced over 100 years ago. Many of the old farm homes and most of the homes and buildings in towns and city's were built using this brick. CAP BRICK was the first supplier in Southern Ontario to begin re-cycling this brick. Take a trip back to 1971 to see some newspaper articles about the process and our then, 6 year old Company. The brick is carefully removed by hand from old homes and buildings slated to be demolished. The old mortar is chipped away using brick hammers and then stacked on skids. This brick is then picked up with boom-trucks and delivered to customers to be used for new home construction, renovations, repairs and many interior applications such as fireplaces and feature walls. In many cases the front faces are sawn off and later used in Restaurants, Malls and commercial applications where a light weight brick finish is desired. These brick slices can be applied using cements and/or adhesives to drywall, plywood, block or brick walls. Using a mortar bag, new mortar is squeezed between the joints and tooled as required. When completed you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a wall built using the full brick or just the face. (To see our complete line of brick and stone overlay click here)
